Jesse Owens
1) Jesse was a track and field athlete from Cleveland. He later become a member of the East Technical track team and set many national records for running 100-yard dashes in 9.4 seconds. Then he reached his goal of running the 200-yard dash in 20.7 seconds and set a record of a 24 feet and 9 and 5/8s broad jump. Jesse later went to the Olympics and won four gold metals in 1936. People didn't believe him and he would hold races against horses and cars to show off his speed. After four years of him winning the gold metals, Jesse was invited to the white house and was given a Metal of Freedom.
